Proceeding of EPON Interoperability 每 Theme of China Telecom speech section
As one of the promising FTTH implementation, EPON have developed rapidly and has be deployed in large scale. Interoperation is critical for the success and deployment of EPON widely. In order to speed up the development of EPON technology, China Telecom initiated an EPON IOP workgroup. The IOP of EPON systems can be divided into 3 levels: Datalink-level IOP, Service-level IOP and OAM-level IOP. Those factors influencing the interoperability of EPON systems, such as MPCP, encryption, DBA, QoS, OAM, etc., are presented. China Telecom published a Technical specification for EPON interoperability with some creative ideas. These mainstream EPON chipset vendors developed new version of EPON chipset according to the new IOP spec. The test results showed that the interoperability between these chipsets was achieved with good performance. This event shows us the first light of the morning of full-maturity and mass deployment of EPON technology.
